US stock futures edged up on Friday after equities ended the prior session at their highest levels so far this month following data that bolstered bets for a 25-basis point cut by the Federal Reserve next week.
Asian currencies firmed on Friday, while the dollar retreated as markets bet that the Federal Reserve will kick off an easing cycle from next week, with focus squarely on the scale of a potential interest rate cut.
Major organizations, including the International Energy Agency (IEA), U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), and OPEC, have all reduced their oil consumption projections for 2024 and 2025.
The token recouped some of last week’s losses, but still remained largely within a trading range established through most of this year, as retail interest in crypto dwindled and hype over the launch of spot-Bitcoin exchange-traded funds died down.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.59% or 0.41 to $69.38 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.54% or 0.39 to hit $72.36 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.51% or 13.05 to trade at $2,593.65 a troy ounce.
